Hi all,
one of my manager asked me
what r the possible way to minimize the downtime when server crash
and sitution like -if there is no hardware or spare server available on same location where server crashed but available in other location like on DR site. also if there is no high availibility tech. exists
i replied if server is crashed due to any other part than harddrive(with OS and existing datafiles) then move that harddrive on other location and attach,it will avoid the time of installation.
is it right or wrong , or any more solution, please share.
Regards,

Huge question, short answer: You need to look into disaster recovery. There's articles, blogs, discussions, and methods in abundance, but no piece of the topic is a 'quick' answer. It requires a lot of prep work, understanding, and mechanisms in place.
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

That requirement falls under what's called HA/DR - High Availability/Disaster Recovery. Massive topic, entire books have been written on that. Start with Books Online, there are sections for High Availability and Disaster Recovery
