It's been an extremely busy and exhausting week for me, and many in the SQL Server Community, even though it was shortened here in the US, by our Labor Day Holiday. The holiday traditionally marks the "end of the summer" for us. As we head into the fall, it's the last chance to get out the grills and barbecue, goto the beaches, and take our final summer vacation(s). It's also when many (but not all) students begin to return to school. September is the month that often marks the transition between Summer and Fall. But, in the SQL Server World, it's always Summer! And by that I mean, the fun and excitement never end.
I also wanted to mention some of the projects I'm involved in as well!
In fact, we're just getting geared up with so many SQL Server Conferences and Events this fall! We just finished an exhilarating 24 hours, and fantastic event, delivered via LiveMeeting, known as 24 Hours Of Pass or 24HOP. We got to see some of our awesome sql expert speakers and MVPs, with their informative and insightful SQL Server sessions. I'm sure we all learned a great deal! Now, chances are we couldn't catch them all, so my understanding is that these sessions will be available for download in a few weeks!
With PASS Summit 2011, SQL Server Connections/DevConnections, SQLIntheCity, various UG meetings, as well as SIX SQLSaturdays in the month of September alone, busy is an understatement! Here are some more mentionables.
SQLSaturday#94
First, speaking of SQLSaturday, SQLSat#94 is next up TOMORROW, in Utah's capitol and most populous place, Salt Lake City. This event will be held Sep 10 2011 at Neumont University. Now, covering most events in the NY area, why on earth would I be mentioning Utah? Well, if I'm correct, it's the only state that still has "death by firing squad" - No, that's not why. LOL. I wanted to mention a few folks who will be presenting there. Mr. Jason Brimhall, aka SQL RNNR, who maintains a regular blog on SQLServerCentral.com Twitter|Blog, will be doing a presentation on Getting to Know Your DB. Be sure to come by, and shake hands with Jason 🙂 Also, some other locals, SQL Server Experts, Randy Knight and Tjay Belt, both part of SQL Solutions Group will also be speaking. NYC CodeCamp (Autumn) 2011
The NYC CodeCamp (Autumn) 2011 Event is here! Get ready for another NYC CodeCamp, to be held at Pace University in downtown Manhattan, on Saturday, October 01, 2011! This is an all-day event with refreshments served, including breakfast, lunch, and beverages throughout the day. Code Camps are “grass roots” mini application platform developer conferences featuring presentations by developers and for developers. Although it is developer based, there are several related SQL Server technology sessions. DBA Quiz
To continue on my involvement in the SQL Server Community, some of the projects I committed to, unexpectedly came together in the same month of September. I feel like Chuck Woolery, who's known for being an American Game Show host to many different shows.
Back in the spring, I submitted my question for the DBA Quiz as quizmaster for Jacob Sebastian's BeyondRelational.com . Incidentally, my blog is now being syndicated there, and reminds me of something I need to do 🙂 Thanks, Jacob!

We may be the developers, and techno-geeks behind the code, whether simple, advanced, spaghetti, or otherwise. But, the data the user sees is most critical. The query output, the report, or data presentation, must be absolutely formatted in such a way that is easily understandable and readable by the end-user. The end-user can be the boss, supervisor, department head, the analyst, employees, or customers. And they must be the ones we cater our queries to!....
