I want to upgrade SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 on same server.
Server Name is HYP_Medical.
I installed SQL 2005 using Default Instance name called HYP_Medical 1 year back now I want to upgrade it to SQL 2008 with same instance name.
Any idea how to do that??
Or what is the best way?

Insert the disk for 2008, install upgrade advisor, run it. Once everything is good, do the upgrade.

Hi Nita,
I assumed you performed an in-place upgrade. Did the in-place upgrade keep the existing instance name or was a new instance name added?
I am almost sure that the same instance name is kept, would be nice to have this confirmed?
Thanks
