matrix expand collapse

  • I have created a matrix report.

In columns section there is a field called Ccy

In Data section, there is the field called value

In rows section there is a field called code

Then I right clicked on the Code column matric header and then selected Add Group, Parent Group, Group by country field, and checked the both checkboxes for add group header and footer.

The cell where I have placed the Code field, is now set to true for InitialToggleState.

The cell where I have placed the country field, is now set to true for InitialToggleState as well.

The visibility of the cells where I have placed value and Code is set to hide initially but toggle with the country field.

    so column groups is value

Row groups are country and then Code

When the report is run in preview, I see the country field expanded with - sign next to it for each row. The Code and Value fields are not shown as expected.

    Question:

Why is it that eventhough there is a - sign i.e. the country field is not expanded, still I see the gaps on the right hand side for the columns which are NOT shown? The report should only show the expanded sections if I click on the - sign but I see the spaces for the area which can be expanded.

Hope you know what I mean.

    Any thoughts please?

    Thanks

  • I am confused on what you call the data section. and row section.

sounds like you put the Expand and collapse on the actual detail row which will of course not work.

Try putting it on the header row. and then you have to configure the Detail Row group to be Hidden, and toggle the expand by that header textbox.

Here's a quick tutorial I found, perhaps it will help you out.

  • That did not work.

If I do what you suggested, it says toggle items should be on the textboxes...
