please help me out ..

NOw back to ur question, i sense the MS SQL Server service is Stopped in your machine. Can u start it and then try connecting it?

when am trying to start the sql server agent (MSSQLSERVER) on the local system, i got the below error ..

windows could not start the sql server agent (MSSQLSERVER) sservice on Local computer

now i think you got the problem ..

control Panel>>Administrator Tools>>Services:

sounds like the password for the user running the service might have changed, or was never set up correctly.
