Hi,
I have .asc file that comes from the client.
I need to convert this .asc to text files.
Are they zip files if they are how to unzip them. If not how to convert it to a text file.
Please advise on this

asc files are just plain old text files. open them up in notepad...you'll see the extension doesn't matter, the contents are plain text, the same way .txt files are.

ALL junk characters or SOME junk characters? was it human readable when you opened it?
if all junk characters, you better check with the source you got the data from then; asc is short for ASCII, which imples plain old ascii text files.
if it's another file type that happens to be renamed with a misleading extension , you'll have to track the files from their source.
