SSIS packages and non-data warehousing purposes

  • What percentage of SSIS packages that are used are for data warehousing?

Are SSIS packages used frequently with third party applications?

1- It all depends, if a given organization has no Data Warehouse then I would say that in that particular organization the percentage is zero 😀

2- It all depends or how whoever designed a particular application decided to use them or not. 😀

I'm sorry about the answers but questions don't make a lot of sense either.

Could you please elaborate your questions a bit more? Thanks in advance.

  • Perosnally I'd say its split even between these categories

DB maintenance : 33 -- Used where more professional monitoring and administering tools are not available or for smaller systems

OLTP Systems :- With data load or exports from systems

OLAP:- cube processing and Data load.

ETL has proven to be a essential tool and is no really considered by Database folk as a strictly BI tool.
