The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)

  • Hi All,

    I am getting the following message when trying to connect to reports (//localhost/Reports):

    The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)

    I've tried the following so far..

    1.Create a rule in "windows firewall advance security" to open the 1433 and 1434 ports and restarted the service

    2.Reconfigure reportserver but I keep getting the error message "No Reporting Service instance found on localhost"

    3.When I tried to delete the Encryption keys in the Configuration Manager, I get the following error message:

    Microsoft.ReportingServices.WmiProvider.WMIProviderException: The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)

    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WmiProvider.RSWmiAdmin.ThrowOnError(ManagementBaseObject mo)

    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WmiProvider.RSWmiAdmin.DeleteEncryptedInformation()

    at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.DeleteEncryptedInformation()

    I wanted to know what else it could be please?

    Thank you!

  • May be a little late - but did you check that SQL Server Browser was running.

    I had same error message and starting that resolved my problem.
