Books.

  • I stumbled onto the following books:

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Internals (Kalen Delaney)

    SQL-SERVER MVP Deep Dives

SQL-SERVER MVP Deep Dives Volume 2

These look good value to me and a good set.

(I have read the internals for 7 and 2000 of Kalen Delaney and think they were exelent).

These three books represent about the amount of reading I can process and maybe the amount of money I can get my bos to spend.

Are there suggestions to improve this set? (Newer versions? Other books?).

If I have to choose two books to start with which two?

If I have to choose one  book to start with which one?

(There are so many books, it is difficult to judge them all on content and quality).

    Thanks all for your insights.

I got those 2 books for Christmas and then bought The 2008 Internals in May for my birthday. The MVP books are fantastic, and the money goes to a good cause. Outside of those books, there are some on RedGate's site that are downloadable for free that are great. http://www.red-gate.com/community/books/index I personally use Troubleshooting SQL Server: A Guide for the Accidental DBA by Jonathan Kehayias and Ted Krueger a bunch. Have also started reading SQL Server DMV Starter Pack to prepare for my new job.
