Hi, I am unable to delete password protected sql backup files with xp_delete_file. The feedback states that it's not a backup file. Well, it is. But password protected. I know xp_delete_file read both the file extension and the file header. Maybe it's impossible to read the header without password protection. I dunno.
Is this failure by design or am i overlooking something?
Is there a way to delete these password protected files without using xp_cmdshell?

Thsi may help you.
No, it did not. This is exactly what i've tried. It just seems to be impossible in MSSQL2008 R2 SP1 to delete password protected BAK files with a maintenance plan or using xp_delete_file. (this is basically the same method)
