Why select table1.colA + table2.colA = null ???

  • Hello

When I select table1.colA + table2.colA it return null value when colA is 0

At table1.colA and table2.colA I already use isnull function to convert null to 0 before

    Please suggest.

    Thank you very much.

  • Would you be able to provide a little more information to your situation? Some sample data and the SQL you use that generates the NULL value would be very helpful.

  • It will return if either of the operands have null. You said you are using isnull, but the code you have shown doesnt have that.

  • Hi

Can you provide with some data of each table so that i can get some idea...

for the time being if any side of the column have null value result will be null

    Thanks & Regards

That could happen if you are using an OUTER join and one of the tables has a row that does not have a corresponding row in the other table.
