We have replication publishing from 2008R2 and subscribing on 2008R2 Web edition.
We have decided it would be a good idea to have a logshipped standby copy of the Enterprise edition database also on the web edition.
When the database is restored Replication, on Web edition, shows the standby database as being the publisher (? - Web edition can not be a publisher), the publication shows the local (web edition) server as the subscriber, but I have lost the subscription under the local subscriptions folder.
My question is,
Is it possible to have a logshipped standby copy of a database on the same server instance as a subscription from the logshipped database?
thanks in advance

On the subscriber, did you restore the DB with log shipping with the same as that of the subscriber Database? As far as I know If you want to keep your warm standby DB on the same server as the subscriber, then you will have to rename the database.

On the Web server I have restored the warm standby with the same name as the database in Enterprise.
the name of the subscriber on the web server is different.
EnterpriseEdition.DB1 -> Publishes to -> WebEdition.DB2
EnterpriseEdition.DB1 -> Logships to -> WebEdition.DB1

It is strange that you are getting this issue. We have Replication set up and we have warm standby (but on different physical server, same name) as well. One question, are you keeping the log shipped DB in standby (Restoring) mode?

We have the database in stand by mode.
I think I will strip it all out , check my scripts and start again.
Do you think it would make a difference if I set up logshipping first, then replication?

TBH, I am not sure. But we did create the logshipping first and then Replication.

Thanks for your help Roy.
I just need to get this weekend thing out of the way and start again fresh on Monday.
