As a follow up to this post: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1182722-391-1.aspx
If I have a high safety mode mirror with a witness, and the principle loses connection to both the witness and the mirror (loses quorom), the principle will also become unavailable? Or does it only become unavailable if the mirror and witness is in high performance mode?
I am having a hard time understanding why a database that is already a principle, would become unavailable, because it loses connectivity to secondary servers, even after reading these articles.

the documentation is clear, witness is designed for high safety. When the witness is set quorum is required, loss of quorum causes the principal database to go offline.
High performance, although it doesn't require a witness, can have a witness set. However, this is discouraged for the very reason above, once the witness is set quorum is required. Loss of quorum will cause the principal database to go offline.
You can easily test this using a virtual machine to see what happens to the principal state in various configuration modes 😉
