Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint® Technologies 2010

  • This document: C:\Users\bross.PREMIER\Downloads\readme_rsaddin.htm

    States that:

"...When installing the add-in on servers after a SharePoint product or technology has been installed, you can run the full add-in installation on only one of the SharePoint servers. For the other SharePoint servers in the farm, you must run the files only installation of the add-in from the command line. The files-only installation installs the files but skips the custom actions section of the installation process..."

I have a farm install. I have Sharepoint on SS Express on one machine and I have Reporting Services installed on another. On which machine do I install the full installation of the Add-in and on which to I do "files only"?

    Thanks!

  • Which add-in?

  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint® Technologies 2010

But I found the answer here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/bb677365%28v=SQL.90%29.aspx

The full add-in goes on the Sharepoint machine, files only on the others (I think).

I also noticed I was running into problems because I didn't have IIS installed on the Report Server, which didn't help.

I guess for now I'm moving ahead....

    Thanks for the response.

  • Good luck on that. You shouldn't need IIS on the report server in 2008 anymore, but you can configure SSRS to use, or not use IIS. There could be some issues if you have IIS (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630449.aspx).
