Hi,
I am getting this error while I am trying to restore a database (for mirroring) on 2nd instance after doing full back up.....
Restore failed for server ‘ABC’
Additional information
System.data.sqlclient.sqlError: The operating system returned the error ‘32’ (The process can’t access the file because it is being used by another process) while attempting.
Can anybody help with it please.

Do you have antivirus running on that server? Is the backup file local to the mirror partner where you are trying to restore it?

I am at home practicing...Yes I do have anti-virus on my comp. I have one computer and I installed 2 instance. I did back up from primary instance and restoring on 2nd instance.

It seems that AV is locking that file. That would be my first bet on it.

Put the backup file on a separate volume and set an exclusion for that volume within your AV program so it can't touch the file.
