Truncating log in the transactional Replication on sql server 2008.

  • Yesterday Night I faced Issues on Transactional Replication.

We have sql server 2008 r2 setup with transactional replication with pull subscription,

Suddenly our database system is down. Due to in-sufficient in the transactional Log.

After the Full Backup and transactional Backup on the transactional Replication database, Now the system are up and running fine.

Can i know the any information regarding the backup strategies on Transaction Replication.

How can i truncate transaction log in the transaction replication.

    Please Help me..

  • You can backup your log but it wont truncate if log truncation is waiting for replication.

If the recovery mode is full, schedule regular log backups. See if transactional replication is moving data to distributor, if not, log truncation will not be possible and your log file will continue to grow.

  • Whether the DB is in replication or not, you have to have a strategy to manage your log files. Gail Shaw has written a good article on managing the log files. Take a look at this article written by Gail[/url].
