passed exam 70-432

    Hi all, this is my first ever post on ssc. I've just passed my MCTS 70-432 SQL Server 2008 Implementation/Maintenance exam with a high score and would like to get advice on how to further improve my chances in getting employment in this area. Thanks in advance. Imran

    First of all, my heartily wishes on your achievement! Well Done!

    ‘how to further improve my chances in getting employment in this area’

    This would be a difficult question to answer without knowing some of important facts like

    •Are you a fresher in IT?

    •Are you a fresher for DBA role but you are having some experience in SQL Server?

    •The city / state / country you live in?

    If you clarify on above questions, many guys here would be able to help you.

    Responding to Dev to answer his questions:-

    I'm not exactly a fresher in IT as I currently work as a Performance Analyst which involves extensive use of Excel/Excel VBA and some Access; unfortunately my job does not involve use of SQL Server.

    However, I am a fresher in DBA, and as you accurately put it have some experience in SQL Server. This experience was gained through my hands-on interactive paid for course I did through Skillsoft/Reed. This was based on the Enterprise edition of SQL Server 2008 and involved 43 separate simulation tasks like Installing SS, surface area configuration, Database creation, using DBCC, Maintenance plans, Using SS Agent, Policy based management, Database backups/restores, Database Mirroring, replication and Failover clustering.

    I also practice my T-SQL coding skills using the Express edition of SQL Server 2008 as I am very interested in becoming a SQL Server DBA.

    I live in England, UK.

    70-433 would be a good idea but it will bring you jut another mcts

    but passing 70-450 will bring you mcitp cert.....
