hello gurus, SQL SERVER 2008 R2.
Log shipping backup settings.
I'm attempting set up a destination for my log shipping backups, but I can't seem to point to a local drive in the Transaction Log Backup Settings window. When I type a local drive into the window, the OK button stays grayed out. I can only type in a network path to a remote drive to continue with the configuration. I can add a local path as long as I have a remote destination. This doesn't seem right. I don't need to multiplex these backups. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
fix: for any other newbies out there, I was able to put my local server and directory in the network backup window and that seems to have worked. it automatically populated the local backup window. very misleading.

Make that local path a shared directory and enter it.
Thank You,
Best Regards,

Having the same problem, could you please give a better explanation for your fix or a possble example. Don't understand, I am getting the same problem of the OK button being left greyed out when I put my local file path in the texbox in the log shipping configuration window eg C:\Backup

No, what SQL Buddy meant was.....make the directory a Shared Directory and then enter the NETWORK PATH.....you are still using the LOCAL PATH......use the NETWORK PATH ie:\\SytemName\C:\Backup

Thanks for the insructions I had problems where for some unknown reason I was unable to share Folders on my system. After checking online I saw where others have experience the same problem. I have now been able to share Folders now.
After looking carefully at your instructions I have been able to specify a network share filepath and a local filepath to successfully impliment log shipping.
I have to say even though I was now able to share my directories, I could not get the OK button out of it's greyed out state until a network filepath was specified even though both instances (Primary and Secondary) were running on my local computer
Thanks
