Hey all,
I have just had an issue shown to me where a report is taking Circa 2mins to generate on screen for a user (from the time the spinning circle appears).
However if we check the RSexec logs its saying it has only taken under one minute to generate. This is not an isolated case for one user.
If we run it via visual studio it does take the 1 minute to appear.
So firstly - is this normal and if so why? I would expect the time taken to be similar.
If not - any ideas what could be causing this? Both the servers (SQL and RS farm) are based in USA and we are in UK. Does this sound like a network delay issue?
Just need pointers of what to look at.
Many thanks
Dan

It could be - given the latency between UK and USA. However, where is your VS installation - is this UK?
Could you try RDP'ing onto a box in USA and running the report from there?

VS is in the UK.
Yeah - it might be worth a try getting someone in the states to run..... lets see what happens.
Thanks

It might be down to rendering the report as I believe this is excluded from the execution time (I could be wrong). In VS it caches the data so it doesnt have to run the query each time the report is run which is usually why VS is a lot quicker that running the report live.

Anthony,
I have tried deleteing the RS cache file for this report in VS and it is still about the same time.
In terms of the rendering - the RSexecutionlog includes a rendering time element so i assume its all included.
Its a mystery......
Thanks for the response.
