Issue with Configuring report services Scale out deployment

  • Hi Everyone,

    Hope all is well.

I was trying to configure the SQL Server reporting services for a scale out deployment. By this I meant I have installed database engine and report services on Server1 and database engine and report services on Server 2.

I configured both the report services by connecting to the same database engine on server 1 and used the same report server service account on for both the accounts. I am able to launch the report server url, and upload a few html files for testing purpose. The issue is with the scale out deployment. In the report services config manager-->scale-out deployment on server 1 I only see

    <server1> <Instance> as joined

and If I go to the Server 2 to check the scale out deployment I only have

    <server1> <Instance> as joined

Shouldnt I see <server2> <Instance> as joined too?

    Please advise

  • I followed the instructions from this url:

  • I figured out the issue. I am able to see the second server in the sacelout deployment tab.

  • for the benefit of others what was your solution?

  • In the sql server report config manager I connected to the database engine on second server and also was creating a connection to the second database instead of connecting to the database on server 1. I guess I overlooked the document from MS and I dont think this will be an issue for someone.
