We have a 5 node, 4 active and one passive, cluster. We normally move the various nodes from one to another as part of our monthly patching cycle.
However, if a node gets manually moved, the SQL server authentication gets changed from "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode" to "Windows Authentication mode".
There are no "secret" process that run at start up, I've scoured the registry, and we have taken the resource off-line before moving the resource.

If you assassinate a DBA, would you pull a trigger?

Does this same behavior happen when you simply restart SQL Services without changing Nodes?

No. I can stop/re-start, no problems.
The only time this appears is when we fail over to another node using Cluster Manager.
To add a bit more info, the nodes are all SQL 2005 Enterprise, SP4, 64 bit.
