System::MachineName on a cluster

  Hello

  I was wondering if someone can answer the question below

  A bit of a background:

  We are trying to migrate a database from an old 2-node cluster (WS2003 + SS2005) to a new 2-node cluster (WS2008 + SS2008). Both clusters are of active/passive configuration. On both clusters there is an SSIS service running on each node. The SSIS itself is NOT clustered.

  The issue:

  On the old cluster the variable System::MachineName inside an SSIS package returns the name of the cluster. On the new cluster it returns the name of the currently active node.

  The question:

  Does anyone know what might cause this discrepancy?

  Also, is someone has access to a setup similar to the one mentioned above, could you tell what the System::MachineName variable returns in your case?

  You are using different OS. This may be the reason why you get such different results.
