SQL Server 2008 cluster

  • Hi All,

I have 3 node active active SQL Server 2008 cluster built on windows 2008 server. There are 5 instance running on. Is there any possibility to find out which user has initiated failover and if any group is on node and now it is on node is there any possibility to know the previous owner of any group? Node to node failover I can check from current and last error log file but I could not find any information of last owner of any group(before moving to any other node)

    Thanks in advance.

  • You could check the cluster.log file. use 'echo %clusterlog% to find its location

  • For info cluster.log no longer exists on windows 2008. Open the fail over cluster manager and view events there. You can export cluster events to a log using the cluster.exe Oman util.

All the info you need should be in the cluster event and windows events
