Database Mail Setup

    Hi All,

    I have to check in all the servers, whether Database mail is configured or not ,if not i have to setup the mail, what are the pre requisites for setting it up,

    I believe we need to check SMTP server, how to SMTP settings, and what else do i need to find out.. Please help me thanks

    Try setting it up by going to Object Explorer>> Management >>DatabaseMail>>Rightclick and select "Configure Database Mail"

    you need to know the server's MX address (ie mail.yourserver.com) , and which mailbox on that server (along with the username/password) you plan on using. if it doesnt exist yet, you have to create the mailbox first before trying to use it.

    here's a couple of screenshots to help you, but when you get to the end of the wizard, there's a nice Test functionality that will dbl check whether you set it up correctly and the SMTP server answers or not .
