  I need to know , in Actvie /passive clusering sql 2005?

  1. What are resource for Active/Passive?

  2. How many IP need A/P?

  3. What is MSDTC ?

  Could I suggest a visit to the clustering pages in technet/msdn.

  For a ( windows ) cluster ( of any flavour ) you need a minimum of two physical servers ( identical is best ) and shared storage.

  Depending upon the o/s you have different requirements.

  A virtual name for sql

  A Virtual name for the cluster

  A Node name for node 1

  A node Name for node 2

  A heartbeat connection

  Probably two public connections per server (for further redundancy)

  A service account (possibly up to three AD groups)

  an IP address for each of the previous 4

  A quorem disk

  Any number of shared disks for SQL
