Hi folks
I Am getting this error while i am trying to run AdventureWorks2008R2_SR1.exe
Failed object initialization (ISupportInitialize.Endit).Method not found: ‘system.string
Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server.get_InstallDataDirectory()’
Error at object ‘Database selection’ in mark up file ‘DatabaseInstaller;Component/databaseselection.xaml’ line 78 position 3
Any idea?

Check the site where you downloaded the files. They may have some additional info there that may help.

The obvious need be asked:
Are you running SQL Server 2008 R2 where you are trying to run that executable?

Have you tried running the installer with elevated permissions (e.g. run as administrator)?

Have to ask, did you down load the correct version of the sample database? Also, have you gone back to the site where you got the file and checked to see if there was any info there? I seem to remember seeing something when I got the sample file for my system at home (32-bit, Win7).. I had no problems installing there.
