Hi guys, I manage 50 instances and my standard is to switch the Browser of on all servers. My boss wants to switch it on for a particular server as there's an app that must have it on - SCCM. Microsoft wont support SCCM with a non-standard port number. I want to put this DB onto a sandpit server where I can switch the Browser on but my boss wants SCCM deployed on on one of our main consolidated boxes with 3 other instances.
What i need are good arguments to hit him with why the browser must be switched of as much as possible. can anyone help me out constructing a good argument?
Thanks

Why don't just hide the other instances? Make your boss happy and keep security up. 😉

This is whre i'm a little confused tbh. Is it better to switch the browser off or hide the instance? do they do the same thing? is one solution more secure than the other?

Hiding the instance is a safe net when you have to switch browser service on.
