We get this error when trying to rebuild indexes in a 2008 R2 database running on Windows 2008 server R2.
Does anyone have a clue what this is about?

If it still appears hung, use processes explorer to kill the actual cmd session...
Are you using xp_cmdshell???

We are not using cmd shell. Rebooting stopped the process. Maybe the index defrag is hogging too many resources?
