  hi guys,

  Please find a solution to solve this error "executing xp_cmdshell getting error ... Password:

  CT-LIBRARY error:

  : user api layer: external error: A data length of 255 exceeds the maximum length allowed for password data".

  Looks like an error from whatever you are calling with xp_cmdshell. Are you having it call an exe file or something like that?

  Sounds familiar. What bitness of SQL Server are you running, and what is the command line you're running via xp_cmdshell?

  Also, do you have the Sybase open client installed on your SQL Server for a linked server ?
