Hi All,
I work as SQL database developer for about 4 years. I learned everything by my self for the last 4 years, by reading books, watching videos and attending seminars. My boss about a week ago, asked me to go and get certified.
I would like to know what is the fist and best Microsoft certification. I was planning on taking exam 70-433 but not sure if its the right choice.
Just a note i do DBA work as well.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you,

I'd go for the MCTS certifications in database administration and database development first.
If you've been working on this stuff for 4 years, I imagine you will find both tests pretty easy.
The next level tests (MCITP) are harder, and you might want to take some time to review.
You can (I think) buy the tests with a second shot voucher. That way, if you don't pass a test, you can sign up to take it again in two weeks. The tests are multiple choice, and they are designed to be pretty easy if you know the material (and pretty difficult to guess if you don't). If by chance the format does throw you off a bit, then a second shot should see you through the gate.
I say, don't be intimidated, give it a shot. You'll probably surprise yourself.
Exam 70-432 MCTS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance
Exam 70-433 MCTS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Database Development
As I said, these two tests are pretty easy (in my opinion) and each test gives you one certification. The first one is the DBA certification, the second is the developer certification.
If you want some review first, Transcenders has example tests and other preparation stuff. (I found them very helpful for the MCITP certification tests.)
You can sign up for the tests at www.register.prometric.com. They probably have a test site somewhere near you.
Good luck! 🙂

Thank you David for your prompt response, and taking the time to answer my questions. I think i can pass the test, i just didn't know what exam i need to get first. I will go with 432 and 433 after that i will do next level (MCITP)
Again Thank you so much David.

Here is the link to the Microsoft certification site for SQL: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-sql-server.aspx?#tab1 .
You will want to take the 70-433 exam first for the SQL Server 2008 Database Developer MCTS certification. Then you will want to take the 70-451 to get your MCITP.
The 70-432/70-450 exams are for database administration.
You can also look into the Business Intelligence certification exams (70-448 and 70-452). This tract is for BI developers.
Good luck!
