2008 R2 set up stops after product key is entered.

  • Hello, I hope somebody can help me out. I have having to reinstall a copy of SQL server 2008 after it was destroyed when the a drive was deleted. Upon entering the product key, I click next, next again to install the setup files then the screen disapears (as normal) but then nothing else happens, it just stops. There are no errors or anything. Has anybody else encoutered this? I cannnot find anything on the web.

    Thanks for reading,

    D.

    d'oh!

How long have you waited after the screen temporarily goes away?

Have you checked task manager to see if the process is still running?

Have you checked the windows application/event logs to see if there are any errors thrown or process kills?

  • Hello,

Thanks for getting back, I've left it a good hour which I think is long enough, there is nothing in Task Manager and nothing in the logs, its as if I havnt even started set up at all.

    Regards,

    D.
