i have active - passive cluster with sql 2000 and there is an installation of OS going to happen in node 1 so i moved the SQL service to node 2. so now please guide what are the steps i need to take on pre installation of OS and please tell me on post installation of OS shud i install SQL in node 1 or just a repair activity in add/remove program will do or no need of doing anything?????

as you are installing the whole OS itself , so ur cluster info will also go away.
So u need to preparfe cluster again

new os means fresh new installation and configuration on windows and on sql.
post instaallation need to allocate the resource to group and their dependency.
Also be aware till the time your second server not configured completely, your sql is available only on one instance and no failover will occur. So be extra cautious on that.
