Question on Changing Reporting Services Service Log-In

  • Hi Folks

I am trying to change the Log-In for Reporting Services Service via Reporting Services Configuration Manager and it keeps popping up the Backup Encryption Key Panel to enter a location and password.

Can someone tell me how to get around this or do I have to enter a location andpassword ?

And if I do , do I just pick a location for it ?

    Thanks

    Jim

  • you HAVE to do this. The encryption is changed when the service account is changed so you need to back it up again.

Save the file wherever you want, just remember where, and ensure you remember the password you provide as well.

If you ever have to move or recover SSRS database it will be impossible without this encryption key file.

  • Well .... I guess I should have known that something this simple with Microsoft was not going to work that easily. Seems I have a permissions issue, but I do not know why. I am the Admin on the server and created the location so I don't get it 🙁

    Any assistance appreciated:

    Saving encryption key file E:\Reporting_Services_Backup_Encription_Key.

    The task failed.
