Server Admin, need SQL Account

  • I am administrator on the Windows server but can't log in to SQL Server. Is there any group I can assign myself to that will allow me to log into SQL Server as sysadmin? (I did not do the install but am the DBA.)

    Thanks!

  • If you start SQL Server in single user mode, than any member of Local Administrators is a sysadmin and then you can connect (I'd suggest SQLCMD not SSMS) and add your normal windows login as a sysadmin.

  • Thanks. That did it.
