Hey all 😀
I didn't want to pollute the other topics with this so I figured I would set it here. I started up my own blog a month or so ago and wanted to get some followers in the sql community. I have it attached to my signature but I don't seem to get too many hits despite posting here semi-frequently (is that a semi-join?;-))
Anyways, where is a good place to plug one's blog?

Traffic takes time. I still had single-digit hits per day after 5 months. Write useful content, post links on questions where a post answers or helps. Consider tweeting new blog posts. Be patient.

And make the link in your signature clickable, as well.

From your first blog entry...
... I wish to attain that level of expertise and to be able to give back to the community like they have
If you really want to do that, forget the blog, hang around here, and answer some questions especially the ones that you have to do some research on. It will be impossible to NOT learn. 😉 Then, write an article about something to do with SQL Server. Unlike a blog where you have to build a "followship", you have 1.4 million members chomping at the bit for more information.

Shannonjk,
I hope you don't mind a bit of criticism about your blog. I find it difficult to read. I don't know if it's the grey background, the font, or what. You may have great content but I couldn't tell because everything kind of mushed together.
My eyesight has recently been tested and is 20-20 close up without glasses. I need glasses for distance and driving.
Sorry for the negativity... 🙂

No worries at all 🙂
When you say 'mushed together' what do you mean?

I think it looks good and as long as you keep up with it and keep adding original content I am sure the traffic will pick up.
With regards to your last post on your blog regarding scripting filegroups, this is possible is SSMS you just need to go to;
Tools --> options --> SQL server object explorer --> scripting and in there enable 'script file groups'
I think this is enabled by default but i may be wrong, though i do agree with point that the scripts should not automaticaly be trusted.

Thanks for the tip SteveB! For some strange reason this doesn't always seem to work as mine is set to 'true' in 'script filegroups'.
I believe I just solved the mystery however, as the index I was using in question is on a partitioned table and the index is part of the partition scheme! I will update my blog thanks for the find 😉
Edit: I noticed there is a 'script partition scheme' which is off by default. Turned it on and my problem was resolved...what an esoteric find! I still won't trust the auto-scripts in SSMS though 🙂

It must be whatever browser you're using. What I saw on the blog was a nice white lettering over a mostly black background. I didn't see a sign of things being "mushed together", either. Perhaps if you posted a screen shot and shared what type of browser and revision you have, Shannon might be able to tweek the blog to accomodate other browsers.
Personally, I don't think you were being negative at all. You were only describing what you saw.
