Verified SQL Agent service account, reset password manually, updated on windows and SQL level, checked for permissions on folders and registry folders as well... Everything looks good.
Even rebooted the box couple of times, but no use.
After password reset, I tried starting agent through services, below is the error.
Could not start the sql server agent AMRVMRDR service on local computer
Error 1053: the service did not respond to the state or control request on timely fashion

- Win.

Open up the event log or SQL Agent log and have a look at the messages in there. Should tell you why the start failed.

Hello Sunil,
Thanks for your link... I have gone through the link before. But couldnt understand the below steps.
Iam confused of working on this issue from past.
replace the SQLAgent.dll and SQLAgent.rll files with different copies of these files (SQLAgent.dll and SQLAgent.rll). ------- Where to replace these files and from where can I get these files ?
•The SQLServerAgent service startup account may not have the correct permissions to use the registry. ------ permissions are good
In this case, make sure that the MSSQLSERVER startup account, the SQL Server Agent startup account, and the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) startup account have full control of the following keys in the registry: ----------- what to do here in registry ??
Permissions on registry folders are good.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSDTC
The following keys are for the named instance:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQL$<INSTANCE>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\Services\SQLAgent$<INSTANCE>
Cheers,
- Win.

Those logs are all over a year old. I doubt they're relevant.

Last week I noticed when i was running scripts for online services for my environment.
