Hi,
We have configured local Filestream RBS for Share Point 2010 databases on SQL server 2008 R2.
Also configured logshiiping for disaster recovery. Log shipping is configured to run backup, copy and restore jobs at every 15 mins.
There is No activity on SQL Server but minimum of 1 MB log backup file is getting generated for every 15 mins.
Why 1 MB of log backup files (.trn) is generating for every 15 mns even if there is NO ACTIVITY on Share point/SQL database?
Is this normal? Please advice..
Thanks

Sounds like something might be delaying log truncation. Search Transaction Log Truncation in BOL.
Thanks

I'm not a TX log expert, but I believe that is header information for the TX Log or for the backup. If you run TX Log backups a file will be created regardless of activity, but when you apply it basically nothing happens since there are no transactions to apply. Be interesting to hear from someone like Gail Shaw or Paul Randal what is in that file.

I have sql 2K5 here and this is a regular ERP.
The min size for the logs which only includes the header is 125 KB.
Now for 2K8 + sharepoint I have no idea. But 1 mb doesn't seem freakish at all to me.
