guide people to the discussions on republished articles

  • On todays home page is an article entitled

    Sub query expressions vs. Joins.

By Brian Ellul, 2012/01/20 (first published: 2010/07/22)

The article is interesting, but the real value comes in the discussion afterwards.

(actually Jeff Moden adds a bit to the discussion and totally turns it around)

My question is, can SSC do more guide people to the discussions on republished articles?

  • Good question. I'm not sure. What would drive you to view the discussion?

  • At the bottom of the page there is a footer, with the author, publishing date and first published date.

Maybe an invitation there to read the discussion and a count of how many replies are posted would help.

  • We have a "join the discussion" link at the bottom already.

I suspect we need to come up with something else.

We have a "join the discussion" link at the bottom already.

I suspect we need to come up with something else.

Learn more, read / join the panel discussion.

Edit, yes I know it's too long.

  • Can the article scroll down into the first page of the discussion?

Like a sub report in reporting services (obvious lack of web design knowledge here!)
