Can anyone help me understand reliable options outsourcing the administration of various SQL Server environments to 3rd party providers and possibly even our production box (physical and operating systems)? Our server resides in a server room w/in my organization. We purchased the physical server just over a year ago so leasing a dedicated box on Rackspace or some other hosting company is probably not going to be a feasible option considering the investment we've already made on hardware.
Some key factors impacting my analysis:
** If we were to outsource the maintenance of the actual server and operating system, that company would need to be a reputable company with resources to deliver on SLA
** Preliminary research conducted led me to many offshore companies/solutions. My preference is for a US-based company. Willing to consider offshore but less likely to go in that direction
The reason we're looking at outsourcing is that our organization is pretty much a 'Unix-Oracle' shop but the division I work for is considering building out a SQL Server -based datamart. I know this is pretty open-ended but considering I know little about outsourcing options, any information or experiences people are willing to share will probably be helpful. Thanks!

There are several US based companies that provide this kind of service.

In my opinion outsourcing is fine for small companies who don't want the hassle of managing technologies directly.
Larger companies should always look to retain their systems in house. I have seen a lot if scenarios where the organisation has outsourced and ended bringing it all back in house.
