Hello All,
I had a 2008 R" server with 16 processors and 36gb of RAM,
On that one I have several databases, some of them very large ( almost 2TB on SAN )
Some of the tables are over 300gb without partitioning and I am evaluating the posibility of compress those, but I am not very sure about the increase of the workload, any of you have tried something like this on very large tables like mine?

I have not used it however a SQL Skills blog came to mind...here is a good primer backed up with some real-world experience (see comments from readers too): http://www.sqlskills.com/BLOGS/KIMBERLY/post/SQL-Server-2005-and-2008-Compression.aspx
