Data Source View Reusing a dimension from another data source view

    Hi,

    I have created a data source view for one of my data marts, containing the date dimension, child dimension etc. I have done some work on the dimensions changing them to names queries etc.

    I then create all the dimensions from this data source.

    I then create another data source containing a new fact table and 3 dimensions. All 3 dimensions already exist in the other data source.

    When I create the cube it creates brand new dimensions rather than using the ones already there.

    Do I....

    Create everything in one data source. (This would get really ugly)

    OR

    Create the data source for the next data mart but connect it to the dimensions in the other data mart. (At present I dont know how to do this or if you can do this.

    Any help would be really appreciated

    Still trying and failing to make sense of the data view in Analysis Services.

    for example I have 3 facts

    Address_Issues uses time dim

    Child dim

    Addersses dim

    Sessions Uses time dim

    Child dim

    sessions dim

    Child_Issues sues time dim

    child dim

    In fact most of my facts use at least one dimesnion that is the same right across the board. does this mean that everything goes into 1 data source view.

    THEN you create seperate diagrams for each of the specific data marts?
