Get Prepared for the January Hiring Season
As the year winds down, in what was undoubtedly a tough economic year for jobs all around, and in the IT sector, hope for 2011 comes as an early Christmas present. Quiet is the word in these last two weeks of the year, when almost everyone world-wide is in Holiday mode, getting ready to leave town, gather with their families, last minute party planning and holiday shopping. This is the time when companies look to the New Year, before they act upon anything, including hiring decisions and career placement.
My personal interaction with recruiters, hiring managers, and clients, tells me that indeed the job economy may be on its way back in 2011, and points to a potential January hiring boom (fingers crossed π
There are several open reqs that are either on hold, or have a January mandate to fill.
Another factor in potential job hiring trends for 2011, is the fact that companies are no longer dealing with the prospect and uncertainty of higher taxes, which historically has negatively affected job growth. Indeed, the President has relented, and even thrown his full support behind extending the βBush-Eraβ tax cuts for Americans at all economic levels. This means, that at a minimal, taxes WILL NOT be raised in 2011, and there are even some more tax incentives thrown in. Congress has passed the bill, and the President has already signed off on it. Raising taxes in an uncertain economy, is a sure way to make the economy even worse, as many experts on both sides of the political aisle agreed.
According to Climber.com, a career recruiting, career social networking, and job search site, we are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel in the job market. In the last week, I talked to a dozen or more Recruiters and they believe the January hiring season will be strong. Many of them pointed out that their companies are hiring more Recruiters in order to accommodate the coming demand. http://www.climber.com/url/t/L2Wfx141431412
Letβs hope as we celebrate with Holiday Cheer, we look forward to ringing in the New Year with a stronger economy and an abundance of jobs. Hang in there!
