Is Filestream & RBS are two different features?

  Hi,

  We want implement RBS in SQL Server 2008 R2 for Share Point.

  For this we want to use Filestream feature.

  Questions:

  1. Is Filestream & RBS are two different features?

  2. Do we need install Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 Feature Pack to Filestream?

  Or the feature pack only needed when we want to use RBS?

  Please clarify me

  1. yes and no. I believe that RBS uses Filestream.

  2. I think so, but I haven't implemented this. From my reading, you do.

  steve is correct, it seems RBS uses Filestream

  To use it, as of 2008 R2, you do need to install the rbs.msi which is one of the components in the feature pack(s)
