Dot in user name

    SQL 2000 was accepting to create users with period. Example David.CH

    We were able to login through SQL Windows client server application through ODBC. Now we have migration the database to SQL Server 20008. Though it does allow to create users with dot (David.CH), the application (through ODBC) does not permit users with dot to login. It is errors out.

    Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot

    try passing the user name as [david.ch]

    login name enclosed in square brackets.

    Thanks for the reply sir. I tried that earlier, even then it gives error. Where as it accepts , dot (.) in password without any issue.
