Blocking found

  • Today morning i executed the query sp_who2'active' on SQL server 2008r2.i found 2 spids 90 and 100

90 is blocked by 100. the logins for for both spids are same and the hostname for both spids are same.

the host name i found there is dot(.) what does hostname as dot means?why blocking happens between spids of same login?this blocking lasts for small duration only.

  • Not sure of what the question is. What was the wait reason? That is actually your answer.

IE you can be blocking yourself if you are rebuilding a big index in connection 1 and trying to select in connection 2. It will self resolve when the index is done rebuilding.

  • got u but hostname as dot means?

got u but hostname as dot means?

I don't know, never had that happen to me and my network admin is out at the moment. If I had to guess to save my life I'd say it's the local machine

  • ok thanks
