Good question - something we should all know

There are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand (the world). There is no such thing as a dumb question. ― Carl Sagan

Good question.
I guess I'm glad that I don't know this answer from experience, just from reading.

Good question,
I had it right, then I thought to double check myself and searched out rebuildm.exe
didn't realize I hit the Msdn article for SQL 2000 and picked the wrong answer (shockedly because I thought that setup.exe was the way to go)... ah well... live and learn.

Good question. I thought I knew the correct answer and took a shot at it. Glad I got my point.

I wish it was so for me too! I had to rebuild the master database for a collation change and it's a *PAIN*, especially on big SQL Server 2005 clusters. The setup process has to start on each passive node before you can rebuild the master database and (multiple nodes) = (multiple possible reasons for a failure).

Nice question. Good to know information. Hopefully I will never have to actually use it!

Good info to know. I have had to use rebuildm in past jobs and knew it had been replaced. Also figured that if the master was corrupt that the DAC wouldn't probably work. I echo other's thoughts that I hope I don't have to ever use it in production, but I think I'll mess around with it in a sandbox as it is good to know how to use it.
