report server scale-out deployment

    What exactly meant by report server scale-out?

    Does Having one server for Reporting services and another server for it's databases (ReportServer & ReportServerTempDb) called report server scale-out?

    Please advice.

    scale up means you buy a bigger server and move the dbs there.

    Scale out means you can buy more servers and spread the load across. It's also nice to be able to take a few servers down without stopping the service.
