Hi All
Just after some advice on how you have in the past prep'd for the certification exams?
I have the trancender modules for MCTS/MCITP in both Admin and Development, so slowly working my way through them as and when I get time.
Has anyone used the self paced training kits from MS Press or other materials?
Was looking at topping up with the training kits, I know that some of the books have printing mistakes which can make it quite annoying to learn from.
Thanks
Ant

Training kits are a good help. I did MCITP for 2005 and they were helpful. But i'll say , they alone are not sufficient. My perception is that as long as you dont have some good hands on experience, one shouldn't write the just by reading the book.
And you'll have to read each and every topic thoroughly, and that too atleast 3 times. But that can be just my perception.....you may be sharp 🙂

Yeah I would say I have some very good hands on experience, but I would say that it has been more focused into certain areas and not across the whole SQL spectrum.
I am lacking on resource gov / service broker and all that kind of stuff, but HA, indexing, backups, recovery etc, I would say I could do all that without breaking a sweat.
Been looking at doing the exams now for over 18 months, just never had the time with work contraints.
Will get the book for 70-432 and go through it with the trancenders and hopefully plan the exam for sometime in August.

Also, would anyone recommend waiting until the Denali exams are released instead of taking the 2008 exams as I guess Denali is only really around the corner?

good luck to you.....
I am too looking for my upgrade, 70-453 somewhere in august 🙂

The exams can be anywhere 6-12 months after the release of the product. There's no indication that Denali is imminent, there's only been one public CTP (Nov last year) and another CTP has been tentatively announced for 'summer'.
If you wait for the Denali exams, you could be waiting a long time.

Thanks Gail, I guess the will be doing the upgrade exams anyway from 2008 to Denali like they have for other versions.
I have just ordered the training kit for 70-432 from Amazon, so I will hopefully get sometime soon to sit down and crack on with it.
