Is there any Performance impact on database while taking the backup

    Hi,

    A)Is there any performance impact while we take online backup on below methods.

    1) Backup in to the Same server .

    2) Backup to a SAN disk.

    3) Network back up.

    B) Is there any logging to "temdb" while online backup?

    C) Will "MSDB" holds any locks while doing the backup?

    Please answer

    A) Yes

    B) No

    C) Maybe (offhand not sure)

    Hi,

    for the answer A) how will be the performance impact

    and which will be the best method of the above three backups that will have low impact.
