Locking - too much time occurred - how to resolve?

  • Hi,

    DATE/TIME:9/1/2011 4:07:13 PM

DESCRIPTION:The SQL Server performance counter 'Lock Wait Time (ms)' (instance '_Total') of object 'SQLServer:Locks' is now above the threshold of 30.00 (the current value is 1117.15).

I have receive mail alert from server,

I checked sp_who2, but there is no any blocking transaction. Next step what should I do?

    Thanks

  • I guess this comes from some kind of monitoring tool?

Most tools attempt to set a threshold , locks is not an easy one to set, for instance I see my main prod server is showing over 900k lock requests/sec

I'm guessing this is an alert you can ignore - or get the monitoring team to disable.
